Target greens in play on 1st & 4th whilst drainage works carried out. (updated 18 October at 06:22)

Defending Champion Tara (*15) was playing alongside Katie Warren (*39) of Wrag Barn, Wiltshire and Emily Slater (*24) of Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire. (* 2016 Ladies Order of Merit rankings).

Tara got off to a bad start and found herself 4 over through 9 holes whilst Katie had an impressive score of 4 under and Emily 1 over. After a spectacular run of birdies on the back 9 Tara reduced the difference from 8 to 3 shots.

Starting off in the afternoon round both Katie and Emily birdied the 1st hole whilst Tara had to make do with a par with the lead increasing to 4. However, Tara then birdied the next 3 holes whilst both playing partners made mistakes and Tara took the lead by 1. After 9 holes Tara was 2 shots clear of Katie and 1 shot clear of Emily.

It remained an extremely close game and after bogeying 14 Tara was level with Emily whilst Katie made a series of bogeys and fell far behind.

Tara parred the 15th and Emily bogeyed returning to a 1 shot lead. On 16 Emily pulled her drive left into the trees but managed to get a clear shot to the green and struck a fabulous shot to 15 foot and sunk the putt for a birdie whilst Tara made a disappointing bogey which turned the game around again leaving Tara 2 shots adrift.

On the 17th hole both players approach shots arrived 15 feet from the pin where Emily again sunk an unbelievable long putt whilst Tara's skimmed the hole for a par placing her 3 shots behind with 1 hole left to play.

On the 18th Emily shot her drive out of bounds and taking 3 of the tee sent the ball to the right. With any chance at all of scoring a birdie Tara knew she had to hit the fairway but an adrenalin rush took the drive slightly off track and she ended up in the bunker. Emily did well with her 4th shot out of the trees and although she struck a great 5th shot it just crept off the back of the green leaving her a treacherous downhill putt.

Tara made it out of the the bunker leaving herself 124 yards to the pin. A magnificent strike found the ball 10 ft from the pin with a downhill right to left putt.

Emily was first to go and with understandable nerves struck the putt at great speed but the ball fully hit the pin and stopped within a few inches of the hole!

In the do or die situation Tara knew she had to sink the putt to win the tournament and she did!
